Flikr have launched Places which is a mash up that produces a location profile . The profile pulls data from maps, weather, groups and individually tagged photos.
Is this the start of a Flickr creating a location based social network?

This was a very interesting feature I just found on flickr while uploading new photos. Maybe they’re offering a social-network, I highly doubt it though. I think with the new ‘maps’ feature though, we will soon have GPS systems in our XLR’s.
That way, when you upload pictures, it can automatically pinpoint where you were when you got that picture. I’d say we’re about 18 months away from it, but it’s definitely a next step.
